Chapter Text

“f*ck YOU MEAN YOU’RE QUIRKLESS?!?!”

Bakugo screamed into the grassy terrain from his slumped defeat.

“Yup. I got nothin bud.”

Muffled screams rang out through the courtyard.

“... Jesus. With lungs like that I should sic the boy on Hizashi.”

Aizawa mumbled to himself, eliciting a laugh from Kyouka.

“Wait… So you learned swordfighting instead of fighting with a quirk? That’s manly as hell!”

Kirishima pumped his fists as Sero restrained Iida- not wanting an outburst following two of his classmates swearing in front of him.

“Umm… I guess? It wasn’t an intentional choice. I used to do kendo with my sister when we were younger, but most of my weapon skills came from necessity.”

“EVEN MANLIER!”

Mina shook her head at the hotheaded boy’s compliments.

“Bud. Probably shouldn’t be calling a girl manly like that- she might not be comfortable with it- Yo! Rito! Ignore the boy- he just uses manly as like. Cool and strong.”

Kirito smiled softly and scratched her hair.

“Y-yeah I kinda gathered… It’s cool. Doesn’t really bother me. Agil and Klein call me bro still. It’s cool.”

“Ummm… everyone I think we’re glossing over something-”

The classes attention shifted to Ochaco, tapping her pointer fingers together nervously.

“Um… you said Izu was quirkless- but we’ve seen him use his quirk a ton…”

“This is true! If it weren’t for that boy’s heroic efforts I would be dead.”

Iida broke free from Sero’s tape prison to stand beside Ochaco, chopping his arms.

“Huh? But greenie wears quirkless shoes- they’re specialty since we’ve got extra joints…”

“U-uh… Kirito… Truthfully I lived most of my life quirkless, yeah… My quirk came in very late for me…”

Kirito brought a finger to her cheek, thinking before beaming bright.

“OH! I see- Sorry! I see what's up! Umm- uh. Hey- do you mind if we chat after class- alone?”

Izuku looked slightly confused at the offer, but decided to not question it, instead nodding and agreeing to meet with the new girl- even if he was afraid of stammering and stuttering alone in front of a cute new girl-

“So uh. Sorry about that green- I didn’t even think about blurting out the fact you were quirkless too-”

“I-it’s fine Kirito… My classmates are cool- They don’t mind stuff like that… it’s a lot better than my old school.”

“Yeah I get that- kids were so cruel in elementary and middle-”

Kirito shook her head.

“Sorry- distracted- no I’m sorry if I outed you-”

“Outed me?”

“Y’know- like… dragged you out of the closet-”

“I don’t follow…”

Izuku stared, head tilted at the ravenette, clearly struggling with her words.

“I- I… Listen… I know how you got your quirk I think… back when it was fresh knowledge I didn’t have a quirk… I looked into ways I could potentially get one… and I learned some quirks are tied to specific chromosomes… and uh… if you are quirkless… sometimes if you begin to transition… your dormant quirk is awakened…”

Izuku gawked for a moment, realizing what Kirito was implying.

“N-no it-it’s not like that… I- I’m not… I don’t think I’m trans… I’m just a really late bloomer…”

Kirito smacked herself in the face.

“Man I am the f*cking worst at social interactions today. Sorry… I just thought there was another girl in the class like me…”

“Like you?... Wait you’re?...”

“Y-yeah… I’m a trans girl. And if that Kaminari kid is bright, he’ll remember that the Black Swordsman in the reports is a guy. So he’ll probably piece it together pretty quick.”

“Oh… well, I support you fully! I think it’s really cool that you get to be yourself and also fight quirkless as a hero! That was my dream as a kid- I would’ve loved to have met you back then!”

Kirito just softly smiled at the green-head’s praise.

“Thanks… After all this time it’s weird going back to a world where quirks matter.”

“They don’t… at least not to me. Anyone can be a hero- nomatter their ability. It’s just another tool in the arsenal.”

“Thanks green.”

“No problem Kirito… oh and umm… how exactly did you realize you were trans…”

Kirito may have not picked up on a lot of social cues, but even she could notice an egg cracking. She smirked and replied honestly.

“Oh. There’s this one VR game I play- it matches your brainwaves to make an accurate avatar- I spawned in as a girl. That was a shock- and then the NEXT thing that happened was I was in a medical rig called the Soul Translator- which I also happened to be a girl in. Even I’m not dense enough to ignore those signs-”

Izuku laughed nervously before looking up VR headset prices on his phone. Kirito covered his phone with her hand.

“Bud… I work for the government on VR projects- I can just get you an Amusphere… and GunGale and Sword Art Origins- just so we can play together of course.”

Kirito smirked as Izuku looked at her fondly.

“Oh yeah. I was 100% right-”
