So... nobody has seen this Limca ad before? 🤨This was one of many stunning ads done by Ogilvy India 15+ years ago. Nobody thinks there's any similarity between this and that new ad for a different lemony drink featuring Rashmika & Ranbir?Nobody thinks someone from the team should have seen/mentioned/warned about the Limca ads? There were more than one.Nobody from the entire team said 'Ye ho chuka hai. Kuch alag karte hain. Ekdum hatke. Todu. Disruptive. Matlab ekdum aisa ye...'?Nobody thinks it's plagiarised in any way? Okay. It's just me then. I'll see myself out. 😏PS: In an earlier ad of the other brand, Rashmika is introduced to this concept of water splashing. Then why is she clueless about it in the new ad? Does her character suffer from the same selective amnesia as the makers of the ads? Just asking. Ok, fine. I'm leaving. 😔#funintended #advertising #india

I have always been in awe of Dove's Real Beauty campaign and the assets the brand has created under this umbrella over the last 20-odd years.In 'The Code', their latest addition to their Self-Esteem Project, Dove adopts AI to deliver yet another impactful real beauty message, emphasizing the reach and influence of their campaign.It is fascinating how strongly a brand can shape culture that a simple mention of its name in a prompt can trigger drastically improved and diverse results from AI tools that are mostly fed skewed data.#advertising #copywriting #adcampaigns #realbeauty #dove

Iain Akerman is a proper journalist, whose insight into the industry and his genuine care and honest concern for it, have always been what I have respected over nearly 10 years of knowing him. Also, ArabAd and Ghada W. Azzi have always supported honest and truthful povs, including mine, without editing. So, I loved this freestyle conversation with Iain in the company of Angela Bak at Attiko this July. He has captured most of our candid chat on the link below (except my inability to use chopsticks and my secret super power - thanks Iain!). What I loved most was sharing a few (hopefully helpful) perspectives on the gaps with strategy in agencies, on the issues with strategy across agencies and on the importance of strategy for agencies behind effectiveness - after the stint at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity’s Creative Effectiveness Jury, representing the MENA region for the first time in that jury, on behalf of Publicis Groupe.And I ended our chat with a plea that I’m glad to see featured here for all young strategists and their leadership… “And because there’s less focus on strategy, both in terms of making sure they’re involved but also in terms of having enough strategists, strategy teams are so small they’re spread thin. There’s only so much time these poor (in time) people have to put the effort in, to put the rigour in, to work with clients, to win over clients, to win their trust. It takes effort, it takes time and there are not enough of us. And that’s my plea: focus on strategy, help your strategists, scope better for strategy financially so you can get more people, and make them involved in the process.
